In our excellent Year 6 topic 'Revolution', our pupils have been looking at the work of the Victorian artist, William Morris, making detailed sketches of his wallpapers and fabric prints. They've been inspired to paint or colour delicately, with attention to detail, using viewfinders to really investigate his intricate pattern work. Of course, our super-keen Year 6 children just had to have a go themselves, and so they learned to make a detailed press print block, carve patterns into polystyrene tiles using a pencil, then use a roller to apply paint. After that, the children made sure to print carefully, taking care not to overlap the colours.

What a fantastic way to meet this step of our programme of study; 'Improve their mastery of art and design techniques, including drawing, painting and sculpture with a range of materials'.
