Our Year 2 children have been busy investigating Ramsey as part of their exciting ‘Street Detectives’ project. This topic helps pupils learn about their local area, discover key landmarks and services, and understand how the community has changed over time. It also encourages them to think about what they, as the next generation, can do to make Ramsey an even better place to live.
As part of their learning, the children invited local legend Mr Mike Boulton to share his incredible knowledge of Ramsey’s history. His stories brought the past to life and helped the children appreciate how the town has grown and changed over the years.
The project also included a real-world challenge: pupils wrote letters to Ramsey Town Commissioners with their ideas for improving Mooragh Park’s play area. Suggestions ranged from pirate ships and zip-lines to big tube slides – all designed to make the park more fun for everyone! Alongside their writing, the children created vibrant artwork inspired by the streets and buildings of Ramsey, capturing the character and colour of our town.
