Year 5 | Line, Light and Shadows

Published Friday 14 February 2025

Our Year 5 pupils have been honing their observational skills and artistic techniques by sketching local churches. Focusing on the interplay of light and shadow, they have explored various methods to create depth and dimension in their pencil drawings. Techniques such as cross-hatching, hatching, contour lines, and smudging have been employed to capture the unique architectural details and atmospheric qualities of these familiar landmarks. These drawings showcase the pupils' growing ability to translate their observations into expressive and nuanced works of art.
