At Bunscoill Rhumsaa we are committed to providing a broad, balanced curriculum that supports the needs of all our pupils. This includes children who may need a little extra help or who have identified special educational needs (SEN). When we notice that a child might benefit from additional support, we work closely with families to create tailored plans that help them access the curriculum fully and thrive in school.

Our Special Educational Needs Coordinator, Sarah Hitchen, coordinates the support we offer and ensures that each child receives the right provision at the right time. She works alongside teachers, support staff, and parents to make sure every pupil feels included, understood, and well supported.

We also work in partnership with a range of external professionals - such as Educational Psychologists, Speech and Language Therapists, and Play Therapists - so that, wherever appropriate, pupils can benefit from specialist guidance. If extra support is available and would benefit a child, we will always do our best to access it and enhance their school experience.

At Rhumsaa, we want every child to feel confident, valued and able to flourish, and our approach to SEN reflects this commitment.
