Children may bring a packed lunch, go home for lunch, or enjoy a school dinner provided by the Isle of Man School Meals Service. You can find out more about the school meals, menus, and nutritional standards on the DESC Primary School Meals page. [desc.gov.im]
Children may also bring a healthy snack for morning break. Examples of suitable snacks include:
- Fresh or dried fruit
- Nut-free trail mix
- Celery or carrot sticks
- Fruit smoothies
Please avoid sending items such as crisps, chocolate bars, or fizzy drinks, as these are not permitted.
We have several children in school with severe nut allergies, so we aim to be as Nut Free as we can. You can help us to keep everyone safe by providing snacks or lunches that don't contain peanuts or tree nuts.
You can read our full Food in School Policy on our Policies page.
For guidance on healthy snacks for children, we recommend the NHS’s Healthier Snacks for Kids page, which offers practical ideas and tips for parents. [nhs.uk]
We will keep you informed of school dinner costs and updates through our newsletters throughout the year.
