One of the most lovely things about working in a primary school is seeing the small steps of progress our children make every day, every week and over the course of a term and a year - and seeing how proud our children are about it, too! I took this picture when I popped into one of our Reception classes yesterday, to find some very happy children who were putting their fantastic phonics work with their teacher into practise - writing independently, using the sounds and skills they've been learning about! These are the crucial foundation steps to becoming skilful, confident and happy writers, and our Reception children are well on their way!
