Our Year 6 pupils have enjoyed an excellent morning with the team from Junior Achievement Isle of Man! They are taking part in the 'Our World' program, a very hands-on, thought-provoking activity based around learning about why products are imported and exported and the effect of global supply and demand on the value, price, use and sustainability of the world’s resources. Students discover that businesses trade on a world-wide scale and are introduced to the complexities of global trade between countries at different levels of economic development and available resources at their disposal.
As well as that, the students then work together to design a product and a marketing campaign taking into consideration the target market, they then present their idea to the rest of the class.
It's a lot of fun, allows for some really 'deep thinking', and of course it fits in with the 'Global Awareness' aspect of our curriculum.
