At Bunscoill Rhumsaa, we are proud to offer a broad, balanced and engaging curriculum that inspires children to be curious, ambitious and enthusiastic learners. The long-term plans below provide an overview of the learning that children will experience throughout the academic year and are intended to give parents and carers a "big picture" view of our curriculum journey within each year group.
Our curriculum is primarily based on the Cornerstones Curriculum, enriched with our own unique Manx perspective to ensure that children develop a strong understanding of the Island's heritage, culture and environment. In addition, some areas of learning are planned using the Kapow! curriculum, while Physical Education is taken from the Complete PE programme. Religious Education follows the Isle of Man RE Curriculum. Together, these approaches help us provide a rich, coherent and high-quality learning experience for all pupils.
The plans published on this page are intended as a guide to the learning that will take place during the year. However, as a responsive school, we recognise the importance of following children's interests, responding to current events and making the most of unexpected learning opportunities. As a result, some content, topics or timings may be adapted throughout the year to best meet the needs of our pupils. While the overall curriculum journey remains carefully planned, the details are not always set in stone, allowing us to provide learning experiences that are relevant, meaningful and engaging for every child.
