We use Spelling Shed at Bunscoill Rhumsaa; its a whole school scheme of work for spelling which provides full coverage of the National Curriculum (England) expectations for spelling, covering the age-appropriate word lists and spelling rules. The scheme ensures great coverage and practise using a wide variety of exciting activities, both in class and online, and features discrete spelling lessons each week for every class which follow on smoothly from our school's phonics programme.
What's more, using Spelling Shed fits in beautifully with our Visible Learning approach; each week the children take a 'cold test' with that week's spelling list, and then a 'hot test' at the end of a week's worth of input and practice - where children can really see the improvement they have made through their hard work!
