Year 1 | The Starry Night

Inspired by the iconic 'The Starry Night' by Vincent van Gogh, our Year 1 pupils have been exploring lines, shapes, and textures to create their own unique interpretations. Pupils experimented with hard and soft pencils and pens, exploring different marks and recording their findings in sketchbooks. They also engaged with a range of textural materials, using descriptive words to communicate how each felt and recording their observations. Through discussions and comparisons of their work, the pupils expressed their ideas about the different textures they encountered, fostering their artistic vocabulary and appreciation for the elements of art.
