Our Cornerstones Curriculum

Published Tuesday 3 December 2019

The four cornerstones of our curriculum are Engage, Develop, Innovate and Express.

The 'Engage' stage hooks learners in with a memorable experience, sets the scene and provides the context for learning, asks questions to find out children's interests and sparks children's curiosity using interesting starting points.

The 'Develop' stage teaches facts and information for deeper understanding and knowledge, lets children demonstrate new skills and allows time for consolidation. It provides creative opportunities for making and doing and delivers reading, writing and talking across the curriculum.

The 'Innovate' stage provides imaginative scenarios that encourage creative thinking, enables children to apply previously learned skills, encourages enterprise and independent thinking and provides opportunities for collaborative working and problem solving.

Lastly, the 'Express' stage provides environments for reflective talk, creates opportunities for shared evaluation, celebrates and share children's success and identifies next steps for learning.
