Our Year Six pupils are really enjoying their topic 'Revolution', all about the Victorian age - and to really get a feel for how things were for a Victorian child at school, they decided to have a Victorian day! As you can see in the pictures, things were't quite so much fun for our Victorian ancestors - just look at those serious faces! With ultra-strict teachers, repetitive lessons, drilled PE lessons and harsh punishments, it was a very different time.
It's a terrific history-based topic which helps our children to understand historical concepts such as continuity and change, cause and consequence, similarity, difference and significance, and use them to make connections, draw contrasts, analyse trends, frame historically valid questions and create their own structured accounts, including written narratives and analyses.
