Our "On the Beach" project in Reception class is proving to be a very exciting journey! The children had a fantastic time exploring the fascinating world of coastal animals that live in rock pools and along the seashore.
One of the highlights of the project was when the children helped a pirate bury their treasure! This fun activity allowed them to develop their map skills as they created treasure maps and learned how to navigate using simple directions. It was a wonderful way to spark their imaginations and provide a great reason for writing. The pupils shared their own beach experiences and compared them with how beach holidays were enjoyed in the past, which sparked some wonderful conversations and connections.
A big part of our learning focused on the importance of protecting our environment. The children gained valuable insights into how they can care for our planet and keep living things safe. We also talked about essential safety tips for enjoying time at the beach and highlighted the roles of people who help us stay safe during our adventures.
We’re proud to share some of the amazing writing and drawings that the children created, inspired by their learning about coastal animals and their treasure-hunting adventures.
