You can just feel the fun that our Year 2 children are having here! Their current topic, 'Muck, Mess and Mixtures' is filled with opportunities to explore and find out new things, in art, science, design technology and more. On this day, the children were having a great time enjoying a messy mixtures morning! The children experienced a variety of weird and wonderful mixtures that they could feel with their hands and feet, creating messy mixtures from cornflour and water, paint, jelly, shaving foam, body lotion, soap flakes and clay....all sorts! The children were able to ladle, pour, touch and explore with their senses (although no tasting, of course!).
Our teachers set up an exciting outdoor space to use as a 'mixing laboratory' for the children, so they were able to complete a carousel of messy activities. From this, the children will be reading and writing instructions and recipes, sorting and grouping (classifying) things, weighing and measuring.....and of course, creating their own beautiful pieces of art!
